As a first-year student at the University of Minnesota, I of course came in feeling apprehensive and nervous, but after joining the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, I have gained more friends than I could have imagined, and I have gained the lifelong trust and brotherhood that I had never before experienced.
What drew me to Pike was initially, a female friend's referral of the great guys I would eventually call my brothers. But even after that initial impression, the thought of having a lifelong camaraderie with the men in this house and with thousands of others throughout the world drew me in and continues to inspire me to do what my best for Pike each day.
In high school, I was in foster care with my aunt and uncle, where I learned the importance of being self-reliant and adaptable, but coming to Pike has shown me that while these traits are still important, as are qualities like compassion, trust, and courage. For me, brotherhood is the lifeblood of my commitment to Pike - they are my greatest friends and I will continue always to respect them, do my best for them, and be inspired by them.
